Android
Install and use the MimiKey Android beta — sign in, unlock with your fingerprint, manage items, handle sync conflicts, and the current state of system Autofill.
Install
The MimiKey Android app is in beta and requires Android 9 or later. It isn't distributed through Google Play.
- On your Android device, open the download page and download the APK.
- Open the downloaded file. When Android asks, allow your browser (or file manager) to install unknown apps.
- Finish the installation and open MimiKey.
Important Only install the APK from the download page on the MimiKey website. Don't install MimiKey APKs from anywhere else.
Sign in or sign up
- Open MimiKey. On the Sign in (登录) tab, enter your email address, master password and Secret Key, then tap Sign in. Your Secret Key is in your Emergency Kit.
- If you're new, switch to Sign up (注册): enter your email and tap Send code (发送验证码), enter the code, set a master password, then save your Secret Key. It's shown only once, so store it safely before you continue.
- After you sign in, MimiKey offers to turn on fingerprint quick unlock. You can turn it on now or skip.
- If you forgot your master password, tap Forgot master password? (忘记主密码?). See Devices and account recovery.
After you sign in, the device remembers your Secret Key, so unlocking only needs your master password or fingerprint.
Manage items
- The home screen lists the items in your vault. Search, or filter by type: Login, Credit card, Bank card, API key, Server and Secure note.
- Tap New item (新建条目), choose a type, fill it in and save.
- Open an item to reveal or copy sensitive fields, edit it, or delete it. Deletions sync to the server and your other devices.
- Open an item's History (历史版本) to see earlier versions and tap Restore this version (恢复此版本). Restoring saves that version as a new one; the current content stays in the history.
A copied password is cleared from the clipboard after 30 seconds if the clipboard still holds what MimiKey copied, and also when MimiKey locks.
Lock and fingerprint unlock
- When MimiKey is locked, enter your master password to unlock, or tap Fingerprint unlock (指纹解锁) if you've turned it on.
- If the fingerprints enrolled on the device change, fingerprint unlock stops working. Unlock with your master password and turn it on again.
- How soon MimiKey locks when idle depends on the Auto-lock (自动锁定) setting under Settings > Security level: 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes or never.
Security levels
In Settings, pick a preset or adjust each setting individually:
| Preset | Sync conflicts | Autofill verification | Auto-lock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strict (严格) | Keep both | Verify every fill | After 1 minute idle |
| Balanced (均衡, default) | Resolve manually | No re-check while unlocked | After 5 minutes idle |
| Convenient (便捷) | Latest edit wins | No re-check while unlocked | Never |
With auto-lock set to Never, your vault stays open after you unlock it until you lock it yourself or sign out.
Sync conflicts
When the same item was changed on two devices at once:
- Resolve manually: the home screen shows that conflicts are waiting. Tap Resolve (去裁决), compare the fields that differ, and choose Keep local (保留本地) or Keep server (保留服务器).
- Latest edit wins: the version with the more recent edit is kept automatically.
- Keep both: the server's version is kept, and your local change is saved as a separate "conflict copy" (冲突副本) item.
Conflicts handled automatically are listed under Sync conflicts and history (同步冲突与处理记录).
System Autofill
- Open Settings and tap Set as system Autofill service (设为系统自动填充服务).
- Choose MimiKey on the system screen.
Login fields in other apps and in browsers then offer MimiKey suggestions. When your vault is locked, the suggestion reads "MimiKey:解锁以填充" (unlock to fill); verify first, then pick an item.
Android uses its own matching rules:
- An item whose website is
androidapp://<package name>matches only the app with that package name. - Web pages in a browser match by domain, and a domain and its subdomains match each other.
- Other apps are matched by a domain guessed from the reversed package name (for example,
com.example.appcan matchexample.com). This is a guess, not a verified link between the app and the domain, so check the suggestion before you pick it.
Important Android system Autofill is still being tested and hasn't been verified on a range of real devices. Saving new passwords isn't supported in this version.
Settings
- Account: your email address and server address.
- Device management: see your registered devices and Revoke (撤销) them. A revoked device can no longer sync your vault.
- Security: change your master password and choose a security level.
- Sign out: removes the Secret Key, sign-in details and fingerprint enrollment from this device. Next time you'll need your email, master password and Secret Key.
