iPhone and iPad

Install and use the MimiKey iPhone app — sign in, unlock with Face ID or Touch ID, browse and edit items, and use system AutoFill.

Install

The MimiKey iPhone app is in private beta. It requires iOS 17 or later and isn't on the App Store yet. When public TestFlight testing opens, the invitation link will be posted on the download page; until then, contact the MimiKey team if you'd like early access.

The same app runs on iPad, where it uses a three-column layout: sidebar, list and details.

Sign in or sign up

  1. Open MimiKey and choose to sign in or sign up.
  2. To sign in, enter your email address, master password and Secret Key. The Secret Key is then kept in the device keychain, so later you only need your master password.
  3. To sign up, follow the four steps: email, verification code, device name and master password, then save your Secret Key. It's shown only once — store it safely before you select "I've saved my Secret Key somewhere safe" (我已把 Secret Key 保存到安全的地方).
  4. The iPhone app doesn't include master password recovery yet. If you forget your master password, recover it in the Mac app or the web vault. See Devices and account recovery.

Browse items

  • Use the search field at the top to search by name, username or website.
  • The type bar below the search field filters by All items (全部条目) or a single type, and shows a count for each.
  • In the list, swipe right on a row to copy its password or key; swipe left to edit or delete; touch and hold for more actions.
  • Tap an item to see its details. Passwords are hidden until you reveal them; you can copy fields or open the website directly.

Copied items stay on this device's clipboard (they aren't shared with your other devices through Universal Clipboard) and expire after 30 seconds.

Create and edit items

  1. In the list, tap New and choose a type.
  2. Fill in the fields. Logins can include a verification code secret (验证码密钥) for two-factor codes. See Passkeys and verification codes.
  3. To create a password, open the generator, choose the length and whether to include symbols, and tap Generate and fill (生成并填入).
  4. Tap Save (保存).

If you have unsaved changes, MimiKey asks before discarding them.

Lock and quick unlock

MimiKey locks again when you leave the app, when your device locks, or after 5 minutes of inactivity. You can also tap Lock (锁定) at the top right of Settings. Unlocking signs in to the server and syncs, so it needs a network connection.

Turn on Face ID or Touch ID

  1. Unlock with your master password, then open Settings (设置).
  2. Under Security (安全), turn on Quick unlock (快捷解锁).
  3. Enter your master password once and complete the Face ID or Touch ID check.

The lock screen then prompts for Face ID or Touch ID automatically, and falls back to your master password if that fails. Your master password is stored in the device keychain behind biometric protection, and turning the switch off deletes it.

If you change your enrolled face or fingerprints in iOS, quick unlock stops working. Unlock with your master password and turn it on again.

Settings

Security (安全)Quick unlock, Device management, Change master password, Third-party access, Auto-lock (after 5 minutes of inactivity)
System (系统)System AutoFill (系统自动填充), Notifications & permissions
Sign out (退出登录)

System AutoFill opens the iOS settings page where you turn on MimiKey. See AutoFill.

Sign out revokes this device's server session and removes the Secret Key stored on it.

Sync conflicts

If the same item was changed on two devices at once, a banner above the list tells you there are conflicts to resolve. Open it and, for each conflict, choose Keep this device's version (保留本机版本) or Use the server's version (采用服务器版本). Your choice is saved and synced immediately, and the other version is discarded.

Current limitations

  • Shared vaults are created and managed in the Mac app or the web vault. Import and export are available only in the Mac app.
  • Unlocking needs a network connection; offline use isn't supported yet.
  • The app follows the system's light or dark appearance.
